Stay Strong

Here is one of my constant reminders whenever I’m facing those turbulence days.
It has been proven many times. It is an Quranic verse but I believe it speaks universally for all of us. Who wants or need to stay strong, who put our trust on The Almighty.

I hope it will enlighten you too.

Blessed is…

… having a great parents with their unconditional love.

pxlr love parents

When you are in your 40’s and still having your healthy loving parents around, you are blessed. When you realize how independent your parents are in their old age, you are blessed. When you remember your parents never take you for granted, you are blessed. When you know that your parents will always support you, you are blessed.

I know I am. Although my parents are living thousand miles away, I could feel their never ending love in every breath I take. Recalling my journeys in life, I am blessed because my parents always support me in every step I made. They still do until this moment. They always trust me, they always believe in me. And the best most of all, they never stop pray for my well-lived life.

I understood well, it’s not always easy to deal with our parents. In this course of life, there was or will be a slight misunderstanding or even big friction between us and our parents. That generation gap between us could be  seen as a culprit. But hey… consider that as one of the fun facts about family life. There are no perfect parents. The choice is boiled down to either great or bad. However, have we asked ourselves: Am I a great or bad child for my parents? Parents do the best they thought. When they had us, there was no manual attached. At the end of the day, communication plays the most important role in parents-children relationship.

There is a gentle reminder is worth to ponder: Love your parents. We are so busy growing up, we are often forget they are also growing old.

So…

Love them. Thank them. Call them. Talk to them. Listen to them. Visit them. Hug them. Make time for them. Give them reason to smile, everyday. Show all your love and care for them before the end of time. While they are still around.

I saw many scenes in people’s life how they treat their elders. Some are so hurtful, some  are so uplifting. As I grow older, I understand more and more about the meaning of this version that I had been taught when I was 9 years old.

Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: ‘My Lord! Bestow on them Thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood.’.

Time

We all have an equal gift right on the day we were born called time. We have been given the exactly same number of hours, minutes and seconds each day. The only difference is how we spend it, wisely or loosely. Whether we use  the best time management ever invented or not, the time we all have will remain the same: 24 hours.

Okay I admit, I do enjoy procrastination. But looking at my record, most of time, I succeeded taming my lazy bugs (oh thank God!).  I guess “the power of now” method that was instilled well by my parents has helped me a lot on my time management practise. What I mean by the power of now is “do it now while you have time, don’t prolong any longer, so you can move on”. I can say that this method works wonder for me. However, just like any other methods, use it wisely. Use consideration and diplomacy. I need to be extra careful when trying to implement the method to my ex colleagues back then or even to my husband now. Some people have their own priorities, some people love to procrastinate, some people even don’t care with others’ time.

time

Now, aside from time management. There is another reminder that worth to be pondered about time. I learned it from the Quran. Since I was kid, I have some favourites chapters and verses from Quran. One of them is talking about time. It’s only a short chapter (or we call surah), but it has deeper meanings.

Chapter 103: 1-3

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

1. By (the Token of) time (through the Ages)

2. Verily Man is in loss

3. Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.

This chapter surely has helped  me to not wasting the time of my life. These verses have helped me to realize how crucial time is. It is not just about  24 hours. It is about what you should do with your time, your lifetime. It is about the importance to have faith and do righteous deeds in this lifetime. So we all won’t be in loss when finally our time  is stop ticking.

September 10, 2010

Thank you, Allah, for letting us experience the glimpse of heaven since the day You brought us together. May we continue to love and to hold because of You. Amen.

And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts); verily in that are Signs for those who reflect.

(Quran Al-Room 30: 21)

The year of 2010 is also a very special for us. We celebrated our anniversary altogether with Eid-Ul-Fitr (1st of Syawal 1431 H). The Muslims’ festive day to celebrate the end of holy month of Ramadan. Indeed, a very rare occasion that you could celebrate two special days in one day.

Allah is Great!

May Allah accept our fasting, prayers and good deeds. May Allah forgive our sins. May the spirit of Ramadan linger on our daily lives. May we all have the chance to experience the bounty of next Ramadan. Happy Eid to all my Muslim friends and family. Hope you have a blessed and joyful one!

Today’s Reminder: Satisfaction

My #1 Book

Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction.

(Holy Quran 13: 27)

As simple as that.

Such a wonderful way to have a contented heart.

But why we tend to forget?
