Take Time

Instant coffee.
Instant noodles.
Instant messaging.
Instant prints.
Instant downloads.
Instant snow.
Instant love.

Instant this… instant that….

We are surrounded by instant things. In fact, many people prefer things that can be done in jiffy in the name of saving time. Or in order to keep up with living in the fast lane.

It’s interesting to see how people nowadays tend to forget that there are still some things can’t be done fast or instantly. And when they know they need to wait or spare more time for the results, they get restless. There are still things that need more time to be done, to be fixed, to be created. For that matter, we aim for quality instead of quantity. Why all those vintage furniture lasts longer than the ones we bought from the big box stores? Why cooking food from the scratch is healthier than consuming the boxed dinner out from microwave? If you are a true coffee lover, would you agree with me that grinding your own coffee beans will give you more satisfaction than drinking a cup of instant coffee?

In my previous path of life, I had experienced where some clients asked my team to do revision on their product advertisement in less than 24 hours. Okay, if the revision is minor, it could be done fast. But if it is major? How to come up with an excellent quality that we all strive for in less than 24 hours? I believe there will be flaws, overlook mistakes. Creating an excellent advertisement for their brand is not like making instant noodles or frying an egg. It needs reasonably time frame. But some clients like to think that the creative team is also equipped with many magic tricks like Merlin had. Of course, I said no and had to diplomatically negotiate the deadline.

Rush rush, fast fast, quick quick.
Hurry up please, oh hate delays.

Like it or not, the importance of taking time is still needed while we are living in the fast lane. That’s why I thought I should share this sweet reminder about the wonders of taking time.

Enjoy your time!
Make sure you don’t miss little things that actually matter in your life.
And I thank you for taking time reading this blog.
